Disorders of consciousness following acquired brain injury

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Although acute medical management and rehabilitation following acquired brain injury has led to an increase in survival rates for those who previously would have died, the number of people in Australia who have disorders of consciousness is not known; however, this population is expected to grow. This paper discusses, explains and aims to demystify the differing terminology used to describe disorders of consciousness which may result from extremely severe brain injury following injury or illness.
