This emergence of the digital web as a participatory platform provides citizens with a stage where they can play out aspects of their (social, professional, political, and even private) lives as a variant, complement and/or extension of their social existence. Online representations of daily life can in this way result in rich storylines; accounts of mediated experiences and events that are worth studying as a phenomenon of our contemporary society.
