    Abstract

![CDATA[This case study presents an innovative consultation process that utilised creative activities to give residents direct input into a planning and design process. Here, an unloved park in a disadvantaged suburb was redeveloped as part of Penrith City Council’s neighbourhood renewal program. Over the course of an afternoon, residents of Kingswood Park drew, moulded, glued and scribbled their way to imagining their new local park – and, in the process, opened up an ongoing conversation with Council around their wishes for their community. The resulting park – now a well-loved and cared for place – reflects and makes real the residents’ aspirations.]]
