Abstract
Electrical railway systems rely on the traction substation to enhance their voltage operation. The design of an earth grid needs to take into consideration the construction of the traction substation. This paper will discuss the construction of the earth grid, while dealing with the operational site constraints. In addition, a practical example is introduced and it is shown how an earthing design can be improved using construction information.
