Research output: Book/Research ReportResearch report

Abstract

Automatic false alarms (AFA) systems warn building occupants and automatically notify fire departments of fires. However, they can also be triggered for other reasons, other than genuine fire, notifying Fire+Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW). This study was conducted to examine the economic costs of false automatic fire alarms (AFAs) within New South Wales. In 2018/19, FRNSW responded to 47,020 alarms, or 37% of total, that were false that were predominantly system initiated.
