However, they can also be triggered for other reasons, other than genuine fire, notifying Fire+Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW). This study was conducted to examine the economic costs of false automatic fire alarms (AFAs) within New South Wales. In 2018/19, FRNSW responded to 47,020 alarms, or 37% of total, that were false that were predominantly system initiated.
