Abstract
This Editorial aims to examine a few questions about character and workplace conduct that some academics and others may wish to contemplate or discuss with colleagues. Given the competitive nature of promotion procedures and the limited positions the higher one ascends the academic ladder, it may be asked: what percentage of 'achiever-survivors' who began with honourable intentions remain committed to ethical behaviour towards others in challenging situations involving peers, superiors, and students?
