Abstract
Walt Whitman’s poetry have always deeply impressed me. Whitman, a 19th Century poet, could translate in poetry, and in a very special way, a range of human issues that are still absolutely current. He talks about human identities, about nature and the social conditions of human beings in their relationship with nature. In his verses, Whitman always asks, at the end of the day, who we are, as individuals but also as communities who share ideals and lives: “What is a man? What and who am I? What and who you are?”.
