Abstract
The professional practice of herbal medicine in Australia has undergone massive change in recent decades. Studies indicate that there are at least 1.9 million herbal medicine and aturopathic consultations annually, in a country with a populace of around 20 million. A large proportion of naturopaths practice herbal medicine as a major treatment modality, and around 30% of naturopaths and herbalists practice in multi-disciplinary clinics, many incorporating conventional medical practitioners as well as other allied health practitioners
