Abstract

![CDATA[The use of composite steel-concrete structures have gained popularity and are being extensively used in modern bridges and building, compared to conventional reinforced concrete or structural steel due to the economic and structural advantages. In addition, the use of recycled aggregate concrete as a new alternative material in construction industry is advantageous by contributing towards producing more environmentally-friendly concrete and reducing pressure on natural resource along with removal of demolished waste concrete. Therefore, this paper investigates the integration of sustainable recycled concrete aggregates in composite steel-concrete composite beam structure through fifteen composite beams with different concrete mix comprised of various percentage of recycled aggregates (0%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 100%) and water content ratio (0.35, 0.45 and 0.55). Generally, it was found that composite beams with recycled aggregate concrete have similar load capacity than those beams with normal concrete.]]
