Abstract

![CDATA[This paper presents fire resistance tests on CFST columns for the potential improvement in fire resistance by using concrete made with steel slag and waste glass as aggregates. Reference infilled concretes, such as limestone concrete and lightweight aggregate concrete, have been adopted for comparison. The main variable parameters in the test program include: (a) concrete type (normal limestone concrete, lightweight aggregate concrete, and steel slag and waste glass concrete), (b) cross-section type (circular, square); and (c) load eccentricity (0 mm, 10 mm). Test results are discussed in this paper, namely: failure modes; temperature versus time curves; axial deformation development; fire resistance and strain development in fire. Results indicate that steel slag and waste glass have the potential to improve the fire resistance of concrete and CFST columns.]]
