Abstract
![CDATA[Blind-bolted connections have been developed in recent years to simplify the in-situ installation procedure for connecting steel beams to Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) columns. This type of connection can save construction costs and time, and provides excellent structural performance. Although extensive studies have been conducted on blind-bolted joints without slabs, very limited studies have been conducted to investigate the influence of floor slabs on the structural performance of these joints. In reality, steel beams are often connected to slabs by shear connectors. Thus, it is paramount to conduct further research to fill this important knowledge gap. In this paper, experimental and numerical results of blind-bolted joints with or without slabs are introduced. The results indicate that the presence of slabs has significant influence on the failure modes and the moment-rotation behaviour of joints, and the influence of slabs should be considered in the design of blind-bolted joints.]]
