Effects of performance appraisal on organizational performance : evidence from a public bank in Bangladesh

    Abstract

    ![CDATA[The best performance appraisal creates a link between individual employee expectations and how the employee’s work contributes to the larger organization’s success. It benefits both employees and organization. It promotes common understanding of individual needs, work objective and standards of acceptable performance and gives employees and managers a useful tool to aid employee development which can leverage productivity and performance of individuals. Using self-administered structured questionnaire, the study considered a public bank given that a very limited study of performance appraisal in developing countries. The study reveals that individual productivity, employee development, communication, motivation, and performance appraisal process are not associated with organizational performance. Both theoretical and practical implications are discussed.]]
