Abstract

![CDATA[Electric Vehicles (EVs) will be the next generation in transport. The main reason is the possibility of consuming energy from wide range including fossil and renewable energy sources. Fossil fuel-powered vehicles do not have this privilege. One of the major obstacles for development of EVs is reliable charging infrastructure. This paper describes the current progress in EV charging levels, methods, and topologies of charging stations. Contactless charging as a safe and user friendly approach for charging EVs has been discussed. The influence on the distribution grid in peak hours analyzed. Finally, Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS) using solar energy is introduced. Multiple energy sources and storage systems to reduce the stress on the grid has been proposed.]]
