Abstract

This chapter considers electrical properties of ionic solids of nonstoichiometric composition, such as binary and ternary metal oxides. Several electrical properties, such as electrical conductivity, thermopower, electromotive force of solid-state galvanic cells and work function, are described and their application in the determination of defect-related properties and defect transport kinetics are discussed.
