Abstract

An Electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise can couple with a high frequency TV signal on a transmission system and passes through access fiber to the optical network unit (ONU). The ONU can serve then as a medium for the noise to propagate to other equipment. In this paper, the issue of electromagnetic compatibility in relation to television design is discussed. After a general introduction to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) on a global basis, the particular EMC requirements in product design are presented. Then the requirements for cost effective TV product design in Electromagnetic Compatibility /Interference (EMC/EMI) terms are summarised.
