Abstract

One of Australia’s premier and most exciting site-specific contemporary art events, the BLEACH* Festival, plays an essential role in conveying local stories and providing substantial cultural activities on the Gold Coast. This work is a site- specific work which involved over 180 musicians and dancers composing original pieces which responded to the environment of The Gold Coast. Felicity's role in this work was to observe the other artists during rehearsals and to talk to them about how the place itself affected them and their work they were composing. She then used her observations and interviews to write a series of monologues which bound together the work as a whole and were read throughout the work by an actor. The purpose of this work was to explore how cross-disciplinary arts practice can lead to exciting ways of exploring place.
