Abstract
The 30th annual conference of the Mathematics Education Group of Australasia (MERGA) was held in Tasmania in 2007. The theme chosen for the MERGA conference drew attention to the importance of developing and maintaining links between research and practice. This resonated with the joint day of presentations linked to the 21st biennial conference of the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT). Thus it particularly highlighted the benefits of collaboration between researchers, practising classroom teachers, and curriculum developers.
