Abstract

We examine the place of stress, distress, and eustress in the practice of stress management interventions. The concept of stress seems to have been largely ignored in the occupational stress, and stress management literature. The idea of eustress is re-introduced in the context of the perceptual interface mode. This model is then used to examine the role of the individual in the stress process, leading to recommendations for action in management research, practice, and education.
