Abstract

Key objectives of this project were to demonstrate, quantify and provide examples to farmers of the environmental and farm-level economic benefits that can be realised by implementing selected best management practices for soil, water and crop management in shallow sloping landscapes. In addressing these objectives, the Project team established improved practice and conventional practice farmer managed demonstration (FMD) sites in the upper Inabanga and upper Abatan watersheds in Bohol Province. The sites were characterised as highly erodible soils on sloping uplands and which included a corn-cassava cropping rotation. The Inabanga sites were located in the municipalities of Carmen, Sierra Bullones and San Carlos/Pilar, while the Abatan watershed site was located in the San Isidro municipality.
