Abstract

This is an evaluation report for the LiTTLe Program at Sunrise Health Service, Northern Territory. The LiTTLe Program is a community-based public health program which aims to promote ear health and spoken language development in home language to prevent or reduce disability due to middle ear infection (otitis media) in Aboriginal children in the Katherine NT East Region. The LiTTLe Program (Learning to Talk, Talking to Learn) is a public health program operated by Sunrise Health Service in three Aboriginal communities in the Katherine NT East Region: Barunga, Wugularr (formally called Beswick), and Bulman Weemol. The originators of the LiTTLe Program are two professionals with extensive experience in remote area health and education: Robin McConnel, a former special education teacher of the deaf, and Prof Fred McConnel, a medical doctor.
