Abstract

Maternal mortality remains unacceptably high globally with 260.000 women dying annually or around 700 every day due to complications related to pregnancy and birth. Sexual and reproductive health rights are an essential component of universal health coverage; however, many are still denied these basic rights and they are unequally distributed between countries and within countries.
