Evidentiality in the languages of New Guinea

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

The island of New Guinea is still a frontier region for linguistic description. Complete descriptions are extant for only a fraction of the island’s languages, with tantalizing but incomplete studies available for more. These hint at a kaleidoscope of evidentiality systems across the island, concentrated in a band of languages in the Highlands.
