Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Increasing awareness of environmental impacts from construction waste has led to the development of waste management as an important function of construction project management. However, huge construction and demolition waste is still generated every year. Therefore, this paper investigates solid waste management in India by conducting a questionnaire survey and interview discussions and examines the existing waste management practices in construction by studying six case studies from Hong Kong construction. Weaknesses and advantages of each case study are examined. Recommendations to improve the existing waste management practices are also discussed. This study can provide insight to the existing implementation of waste management, thus reducing waste generation.
