    Abstract

These eight miniature sculptures featured in the exhibition, Holiday + Memory - 20th Century Australia at Play, held at the Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest, 16 November 2013 - 23 February 2014. This group exhibition Holiday + Memory explored the annual holiday experience of mid 20th century Australia. It was concerned with places ventured to, and experiences had and found along the way. Although largely a celebratory account, Holiday + Memory was also concerned with the way we filter holiday experiences through individual and collective memory. On show in the main Gallery were the works of twenty-nine visual artists, across various mediums including photography, painting, moving image and installation. Dimensions of Kendal Murray's sculptures: Exceed Speed, Mislead, Concede (2011): 18 x 24 x 14 cm ; Objections, Reflections, Corrections (2011): 8 x 7.5 x 9 cm ; Quest Addressed, Rest, Ingest (2011): 18.5 x 22 x 11 cm ; River Flow, Willow Bestow (2011): 16 x 26 x 16 cm ; Seaside Stride, Pride, Confide (2011): 8 x 7.5 x 8.5 cm ; Esteem, Dream (2012): 8.5 x 8.2 x 9 cm ; Family Style, Smile (2012): 11 x 13 x 10 cm ; Forsake, Double Take (2012): 8.5 x 7.5 x 10 cm.
