Abstract
![CDATA[For start-up firms or small firms seeking to grow rapidly the benefits of collaboration and mentoring can far exceed the risk. In a collaboration where less experienced businesses can access advice, guidance and in some cases investment capital from experienced entrepreneurs the benefits of these transactions can be substantial. This paper describes a study conducted in Queensland, Australia of a program, facilitated by the State Government that has developed several knowledge networks. These networks bring together businessmen and women who share their knowledge and experiences in an open and altruistic way. This study describes some of the knowledge exchanges and transactions that have occurred and attempts to explain why this network continues to survive and flourish.]]
