    Abstract

The modern role of Quantity Surveyor is widening gradually with emerging paths of new directions. Quantity Surveyors have become an important and considerable portion of the construction industry. Thus education, which forms the base of the profession, should be able to assure that quantity surveyors possess necessary knowledge and skills. Exploration of key factors that affect quantity surveying education in terms of learning, teaching and research is important in order to maintain and improve the quality of quantity surveying education. In Sri Lanka, graduate quantity surveyors play a significant role in the profession. Thus, a higher education institution that is mainly responsible for producing graduate quantity surveyors in Sri Lanka is selected as an exploratory case study to explore the key factors. A combination of data collection methods: a document survey, observation and a questionnaire survey, is used in the study.
