Abstract

The situation of farmers in the Gaza Strip, and even more so for farmers whose livelihoods are located in the Access Restricted Area (ARA), is particularly worrying. Their lands were, once again, severely damaged during Israel's last war on Gaza. External markets are almost sealed to them, and access to one third of their land is restricted and dangerous. While agriculture is meant to provide accessible livelihoods, all those obstacles result in farmers cumulating debts to provide food to their own families; they are vulnerable and need substantial change.
