When I see how Australia justifies its treatment of its First Peoples, asylum seekers, down-on-their-luck workers, Muslims, and more, I cannot help but think back to all these moments. Fascism, an ironically European ideology, seems to have sailed across the seas and colonised Australia. It’s not ‘un-Australian’ at all, and I’ll never forget that.
