    Abstract

This paper is concerned with the finite element (FE) modelling of slender concrete-filled stainless steel tubular columns (CFSST) under axial compression. This modelling is performed using ABAQUS, a commercially available FE program. Generally good agreement is achieved between the test and predicted results in terms of load-deformation curves and ultimate strength. This demonstrates that the FE modelling presented in this paper can be used with confidence to carry out extensive parametric studies into the behaviour of slender CFSST columns.
