Female desire, colonial Ireland, and the "limits of the possible" in E. OE. Somerville and Martin Ross's The Silver Fox

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

It is on this preoccupation with, and ensuing opposition between, modern technologies and “primitive sorcery” that this chapter will train its thinking. In particular, my argument will suggest that this fascination with the supernatural allows for a covert exploration of female friendship and desire in Somerville’s co-authored fiction with her longstanding writing partner and cousin, (Violet) Martin Ross.
