    Abstract

This chapter is about travelling water stories in the Murray-Darling Basin, focusing particularly on Narran Lake in Western NSW. Narran Lake is located in a triangle formed by the towns of Brewarrina, Goodooga and Walgett, in the heart of the Murray-Darling Basin. It is connected to the Condamine Baloone catchment in southern Queensland, and the water flows down through the Narran, Bokhara and Culgoa river systems into the Darling and finally into the Murray River. While the environmental degradation of the Murray and Darling Rivers is well known, the focus has been largely on the rivers themselves rather than on their catchments.
