Abstract

The Deep Skull femur is one of three postcranial elements recovered along with a partial cranium from the Hell Trench of the West Mouth of Niah Caves in 1958. Through its association immediately beneath the cranium, the femur’s age is assumed to also be 37.8–32.6 ka (Higham et al., 2016; Pike, 2016), confirming earlier estimates by Tom Harrisson of ca 35 ka for the Deep Skull (Harrisson, 1976).
