Abstract
The report examines the economic trajectory of the Central City District economies of Western Sydney (Blacktown, Cumberland, Parramatta, The Hills) in the boom years prior to the COVID-19 recession. The effects of the recession are evaluated in the context of the strengths and weaknesses of these local economies. Pathways to the future are assessed particularly those relating to the role of local lead firms, the importance of value chain strengthening, and the role of strategic centres.
