Abstract
Cellular senescence is a chronic state of cell cycle arrest caused by several stressors (internal and extrinsic stimuli), such as DNA damage, telomere shortening and oncogene activation. It is a complex biological phenomenon essential for several age-related disorders, as well as healthy aging and development. On the other hand, articular cartilage (AC) degeneration, alterations in the underlying subchondral bone and joint inflammation characterize osteoarthritis (OA).
