Abstract
Until recently, most anthropological and ethnographic discourses on death in relation to Muslim communities have tended to ignore cultural practices and lived experiences characterized by 'improvisation, subjectivity and particularity'. Instead, they concentrate on formality, externality and generality. Therefore, aside from being inhumane, the result is superficial social analyses.
