Abstract
Gale is the biggest publisher of large scale digitized historical resources globally. In this interview, Professor Simon Burrows discusses his innovative research and pedagogical uses of Gale collections by him, his students and his collaborators ever since his early encounters with Gales flagship collections Eighteenth-Century Collections Online (ECCO) and the Burney Collection of Newspapers. The presentation draws on experience of supervising many dozens of British students on projects that used Gale resources and directing almost 100 Australian undergraduate projects, as well as his experience as head of the award-winning ‘French Book Trade in Enlightenment Europe’ digital humanities project.
