Abstract

![CDATA[In this chapter, students will explore the ways in which constructions of gender influence health outcomes throughout Australia. Students will analyse this impact through the lens of social determinants, reflecting upon activities that demonstrate how men and women experience health. A discussion of health policies and systems introduces students to the influence of gender on treatment avenues and practitioner engagement. This chapter also provides students with discussions on evidence-based programs that encourage gender-sensitive and culturally safe practices. At its closing, this chapter invites students to challenge their constructions of gender and explore their role in supporting major health issues faced by people of differing genders.]]
