GIM for health and well-being in the context of physical and medical care

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

The therapeutic use of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) clearly has applications to psychological, emotional, and even spiritual issues, but it has been less commonly assumed to have direct benefits to physical health and medical conditions. While secondary benefits to physical health are apparent as a result of resolving other issues such as self-image and sense of personal agency, the purpose of this chapter is to focus on health matters which begin as a physical issue or problem. Therefore, this chapter addresses medical issues in health care, outside of cancer-related issues, which have been addressed in the previous chapter.
