Abstract

![CDATA[‘Good governance’ is considered good for development. There is a clear correlation between level of gross domestic product (GDP), that is, income or level of development and improved governance. However, correlation does not imply causation. There is no clear systematic evidence that ‘good governance’ is either necessary or sufficient for development – whether in its narrow sense (i.e. economic growth) or in its broader sense of sustainable and inclusive social and human progress.]]
