Green construction project scope management

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Project scope includes a detailed description of the outcomes or mission of the project. Project scope development is the basis for defining other project components, such as schedule, cost, quality, regulatory compliance requirements, and risk. The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the current approaches and processes of project scope management and show how they can be applied in green construction projects. The predictive and iterative approaches of project scope development are discussed in this chapter. This chapter provides a detailed description of project scope management processes from project initiation to closure, and the requirements to ensure that the green asset is kept as “green” throughout its life cycle. Project scope management processes comprise different models, tools, and artifacts, coordinated by stakeholders as part of developing the green construction project. Besides, this chapter highlights some issues of scope management of green construction projects. This chapter concludes that stakeholders’ integrative approach, the agility of design, and the utilization of relevant tools such as Green Assessor are crucial processes for effective scope management.
