Abstract
Green, Green World, for female voice, string orchestra, and harp, emerges from an exploration of a prosocial compositional voice unmasking the orchestra within a popular music context. Blending elements of screen composition and Ska, the piece is unified through cohesive orchestration and serves as part of a larger work, Requiem for the Future. The requiem laments the impact of human insecurity while contemplating the potential for psychotherapeutic evolution to help mitigate this impact. It suggests that by taking responsibility for our emotional responses—rather than avoiding them through external distractions—we may reduce harmful behaviours that negatively affect the world around us. In this context, Green, Green World offers the hope that “when the cloud is gone, the world can rest in peace”.
