Abstract

The general area of these sites is often called Llandilo. This name was not used before the mid 1890s when it was adopted for the land subdivision to the north of the subject sites. Prior to this time it was known as Terry’s Brook after the largest landowner, Samuel Terry. The area was also called South Creek, a name which referred both to the creek and to the St Marys district. Whilst the main road is now called, in part, the Northern Road, it is variously described as the Windsor Road or the Richmond Road in the 19th century.
