History for moguls

There is the rage to decentre the nation state. There is the rage to decentre individuals, and with it, biography. There is the rage to decenter Europe in world history, a topic I tackle in my most recent book, Informal Empire and the Rise of One World Culture.1 There is the rage to decenter biology as an explanation of human behavior and show instead the social construction of race, gender and sexual orientation. Finally there is the rage to decenter humans and to show instead the agency of nature. Big History is a more recent arrival that reveals human history as a final and very brief stage of history. It is the ultimate effort to the decentering of humans.
