    ![CDATA[The images from Abu Ghraib are images of horror: the horror of torture, and the horror of war. For audiences in the West, I want to argue, they are also horror images, that is, images in the genre of horror. This is crucial in explaining both their affective powers upon the viewer and their widespread media prolification.]]
