Housing : an infrastructure of care for older Australians

There is a growing housing crisis in Australian cities. Home ownership rates are falling and increasing numbers of households, particularly private renters and home purchasers, are in housing stress. Government Rent Assistance, Newstart and the Aged Pension have not kept pace with rises in rent. Social housing waiting lists are growing. Homelessness is increasing.
