Abstract
Hypertension remains a conunon, widespread and increasing problem in all countries around the world. It contributes to overall cardiovascular risk, including that of stroke, cardiac disease and other vascular disease, as well as chronic kidney disease and retinopathy. It interacts strongly with diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and renal disease to accelerate the progression to irreversible organ damage.
