    Abstract

In this paper, I will revisit the concept and practice of category - maintenance work. I will discuss the process of subjectification through which identity and otherness are created. I will use this as the key to opening up a discussion about difference and the challenges associated with a pedagogy that enables the acceptance of difference in early childhood.
