Abstract
The notion of sacrifice is the subject of an increasing attention in contemporary philosophy. Such attention is combined with a fascination that often turns into the attempt to rationally understand sacrifice; but the encounter with a reality that appears as irreducible to the full conceptualisation, often determines a subtle discomfort, as if sacrifice were simultaneously attractive and appealing, something that is not understood but that, at the same time, one cannot help but try to understand.
