N2 - The models for impact energies of gas-solid flows are proposed based on the governing equations of the flows, and then applied to investigate the energies of the gas-solid flow in a model blast furnace (BF). The kinetic energy, contact and friction energy dissipations, and energy dissipation from fluid – particle interactions are examined. The effect of solid flow rate on the energies is also studied. The results indicate that the distributions of the energies are related to the flow pattern of the solid flow.
