Abstract

![CDATA[This book has attempted to undertake important work; it is as much process as product. The aim of the book was to lay bare our engagements with feminist thought and crucially to capture the long, and at times arduous, processes involved in collaboratively producing knowledge. It has demanded that we revisit, reappraise and re-engage with generations of feminist epistemologies, philosophies and activisms. The book has produced surprises and has unfolded in unanticipated ways through a series of transversal moves and conceptual innovations that challenge conventional concepts for how we understand and research gender in early childhood. The materialized figuration of this book project has involved deep immersion in waves of feminist thought; through crafting this volume, we have found multiple ways in which to navigate a path through interwoven and multilayered feminist (re)productions of knowledge; there are of course infinite other ways. Through our journey, we have at times stumbled, faltered and stopped dead in our tracks; we have encountered trepidation and dislocation from expert ways of being, sensing and accounting for ourselves and the gendered human child in early childhood contexts. It has been an affective experiment – a generative adventure that has pushed us theoretically, onto-epistemologically and practically.]]
